Throughout our livetimes we expand and improve our professional knowledge and skills. The following is an attempt at illustrating the current state of my capabilities and competences.
There’s a Flash game you can play in the gallery section which I did all by myself and I’ve worked on a series of similar comercial Flash games which were done to promote products in the food industry for clients like Coop and Mayer Films.
Realtime 3D
My subdivision modeling skills allow me to quickly sculpt accurate models of anything you can imagine for use in realtime 3D games.
Most important for illustrations is a traditional foundation, knowledge of colours, shape, perspective, contrast and composition. But to make an illustration really stand out I can make use of my expertise in 2D and 3D computer graphics applications. My methods and extensive use of shortcuts help speed up the process.
Apart from web and Flash interfaces I’ve also been involved in the creation of a custom designed and animated DVD Menu, thus I’m also familiar with applications like Encore.
Architects have a foundation in art and know exactly what they want but the programs they work with on a daily basis are not designed to produce atractive and convincing visualizations. Lighting and shading of 3D scenes is a science of its own and in most cases photo compositing is needed to integrate the virtual visualization with photos of the real environment. This requieres the aplication of advanced 2D raster graphic techniques with the use of a graphic tablet. By combining my skills, convincing visualizations are a reality.
It’s an exciting time for webdesign since some major changes are happening right now, that will finally put an end to the dark age of webdesign as I like to call the past decade or so where webdesigners had to aply an arsenal of hacks and scripts only for compatibility reasons and even then the design possibilities were quiet limited.
Now CSS3 is coming and all browsers are quiet standars compliant, except Internet Explorer but version 9 promises to support most CSS3 standards and most importantly: Internet Explorer users have recently started to keep their browsers updated to the newest version, thus support for old IE versions can very soon be savely dropped.
Remains the question: Is your webdesigner up to the task?
I’m up to date with the newest trends and technologies and an expert in HTML, CSS, SEO, CMS and image optimization. Not only for cross-browser compatibility but also for cross-platform compatibility. My last job at Vereda involved the creation of a platform with technical and design specifications for a new and sustainable web 2.0 version of the web portal.
Flash
I’m familiar with actionscript and proficient in creating Flash animations. I’ve participated in many Flash projects, some of which were quiet sophisticated.
My last job involved the instalation, configuration, monitoring and maintenance of a Linux Server which acts mainly as Webserver and is running a whole bunch of services like SSL and DNS and applications like Awstats and Acid Base, all with security in mind.
As an advanced user of Linux, OS X and Windows systems I prefer to configure the operating system for eficiency, speed and security and avoid the use of unnecessary, distracting and pixel and resource consuming programs.
As a result of having spent my childhood in Cataluña, Spain and Switzerland and being the latter a country with four national languages and renouned for its educational system, I currently speak English, Swiss-German, German, Spanish, Catalán and French. Recently I broadened my knowlege of the Spanish language while living two years in Venezuela and got to know the differences in language between Spain and Latin America, as well as some peculiarities of some of the Latin American countries.
End of 2007, I crossed the Atlantic as crew on board the British sailing yacht Ramprasad, from the Canaries through Cabo Verde to Tobago, and sailed the caribean islands up to St. Lucia and back to Trinidad early 2008.
After Art School I graduated from a three year apprenticeship as a multimedia specialist, which was a new career in Switzerland and is designed for a position at a company that regularly outsources multimedia and marketing projects. By having a multimedia specialist inhouse who manages these projects, a company can improve the quality of their campains saving money and time because the multimedia specialist knows exactly what the company wants, knows about the technical challenges and possibilities and who’s best qualified to do the job. He provides concepts and high quality materials for the outsourced jobs and maintains and modifies finished projects.

Animation
I’ve worked for Inowa Peter Zeller Multi-Media + AV-Technik on the production of two educational films about x-rays which are used to teach the correct usage of x-ray emitting machines. These films made extensive use of 3D animations. We used 3dsMAX for all the animation work. Currently I prefer to use the open source Blender 3D software for my animation projects.
I’ve also done 2D Flash animations for games, websites and presentations.
